According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 8, Jonesboro police officers responded to a 911 call at a home on Flint Street. Witnesses told officers that Barrett had struck his girlfriend with a closed fist, causing an injury. They also said he threatened to kill his girlfriend in front of her daughter, who was present during the threat.

The affidavit noted that Barrett is an active probationer. Officers also searched his room and found a spoon with suspected meth residue on it.

Boling noted during Wednesday’s hearing that Barrett had multiple failure to appear and other charges in his history, some of them being domestic incidents. In total, he has had 22 arrests.

Because of this, Barrett was given a $100,000 cash/surety bond. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Barrett’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 30. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 13 years in prison and fines up to $13,500.
