Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A West Memphis sex offender is being held on a $250,000 cash/surety bond after police said he failed to register his address and comply with reporting requirements following his release from custody last July.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause on April 10 to charge 51-year-old Michael Jay Robinson with failure to register – failure to comply with reporting requirements (class C felony).

On June 28, 2016, Robinson was convicted of second-degree sexual assault and required to register as a sex offender. He was assigned a level two risk level after completing his Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment on Jan. 10, 2017.

Per state law, a sex offender is required to register every six months with the jurisdictional agency where they live and notify the agency of any address change no less than five days before relocating.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Robinson moved from his registered address, failed to notify the agency of the change, and became delinquent with his agency on July 12, 2023. A warrant was issued, and Robinson was arrested on March 30, 2025, for failure to register. He was released on July 29, 2025, and required to register with the new agency.

However, since the release, Robinson has not registered or completed a change of address with the new agency. The document stated that he had not registered with any other agency since his release.

On April 6, Robinson was arrested by West Memphis police and extradited to Jonesboro. The Craighead County Sheriff’s Office jail roster shows he was booked at 2:45 p.m. on April 9.

In addition to the $250,000 bond, Robinson was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 23.
