Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – June 5, 2024 – A first-degree sexual assault charge against a former Nettleton Junior High School teacher and coach was dropped after prosecutors said the victim didn’t want to pursue the case, according to court documents.

Jermaine Thomas was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student in 2022.

In April 2022, the victim told Jonesboro Police detectives that she and Thomas had sex together.

The victim said it occurred more than 10 times, according to a probable cause affidavit by Detective Jeremy Wheelis.

Thomas was the Jr High boys’ basketball coach at Nettleton when the incident occurred. He was 35 years old at the time.
