Craighead County, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – The burn ban that was in effect for Craighead County was lifted Wednesday.

In a Craighead County press release, officials said recent rainfall had improved enough that the immediate fire risk was reduced. The burn ban was enacted on Jan. 15 due to an increased fire hazard.

Residents can resume outdoor burning, the release said but are encouraged to use caution and follow state and local fire safety guidelines. Those doing outdoor burning should attend the fire at all times and have a way to extinguish flames on hand.

“Please stay mindful of the ever-changing conditions and help keep our community safe as we prepare for the upcoming winter weather,” a county Facebook post announcing the lifting of the ban said. “Thank you for your cooperation and continued awareness.”
