Downtown Jonesboro roads to be closed for JPD Trunk or Treat event

Update Oct. 29:

The Jonesboro Police Department posted on Facebook that, despite the weather, the Trunk or Treat Block Party will still be hosted.

“We have checked with our weather expert and have been told that the heaviest rain will be in the morning, with maybe some drizzle and wind in the afternoon. It will be cold, so bundle up the kiddos,” the post said.

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Multiple roads in downtown Jonesboro will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, Oct. 29, for the Jonesboro Police Department’s Trunk or Treat Block Party.

A City of Jonesboro Facebook post said the closure will affect multiple streets from 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., which are listed below:

  • Union Street from Oak to Jefferson avenues
  • Matthews Avenue from Main to Madison streets
  • Warner Avenue from Union to Main streets

JPD’s Trunk or Treat will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the corner of Matthews Avenue and Union Street. The event will feature games, candy, food, hayrides and more.

The post added that the event is still scheduled for Wednesday evening; however, city officials are watching the weather closely and will provide updates if conditions change.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 90% chance of rain in Jonesboro on Wednesday, with between a quarter and a half inch of rain possible.
