DWI with six unrestrained children in vehicle

Monette, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 21, 2024 – Around 4am on Monday morning, CCSO responded to a call about a vehicle stuck in a ditch just outside Monette city limits.

Upon arriving, the deputy found the SUV occupied by Jennipher Williams and six children, all unrestrained and cramped in the vehicle.

Williams, who had her seatbelt off, showed signs of intoxication. Her speech was slurred, and the smell of alcohol was evident. Williams initially denied drinking but later admitted to having wine a few hours earlier.

A preliminary breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.13, well above the legal limit of 0.08. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were also performed at the scene.

Williams was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and several other charges, including no insurance, and multiple violations related to child safety. During her probable cause hearing, the judge mentioned that this was her second DWI.

Williams was transported to Craighead County Detention Center, where a BAC test confirmed a level of 0.125. Williams was given a $7,500 cash only bond, required use of alcohol detection ankle monitor, and a court date was set for November 21 in Lake City.

The six children were turned over to their father.
