Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Family Crisis Center (FCC) has received a $29,400 Strategic Impact Grant from the Craighead County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation.

The special grant opportunity commemorates the foundation’s 25th anniversary. FCC was one of four recipients selected from 35 applicants.

Foundation representatives surprised FCC with news of the award during a visit on May 15. Executive Director Casey Kidd, Board Chair Beth Murff, and Sexual Assault Advocates Sara Holt and Abigail Goforth represented the agency at the foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration on Sept. 15.

The grant will fund FCC’s Strategic Planning and Organizational Readiness Initiative. Working with M. Palmer Consulting, FCC will develop a multi-year strategic plan and a 12-month fundraising plan, study donor engagement, and provide development opportunities for its leadership and board.

The work will help FCC prepare for growing demand for domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking services across Northeast Arkansas.

“This grant gives us the time and expertise to plan thoughtfully for the years ahead,” said Kidd. “We want to make sure Family Crisis Center has the direction and resources to continue showing up for survivors whenever they need us.”

During the anniversary celebration, the foundation also recognized Kidd as a full-circle story. As a teenager, Kidd helped inaugurate the Craighead County Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council, where she learned about philanthropy and grantmaking. In 2004, then known as Casey Bibb Hammond, she became the inaugural recipient of the Arkansas Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council Pringle Family Scholarship.

More than two decades later, she returned to the foundation’s celebration as the leader of a grant recipient organization.

“The Youth Advisory Council showed me that I could make a difference in my community,” Kidd said. “To be recognized by the foundation all these years later, while accepting support for an organization I care so deeply about, was incredibly meaningful.”

Founded in Jonesboro in 1986, Family Crisis Center assists people who have experienced domestic or sexual violence as they move from victimization to empowerment. FCC provides emergency shelter, a 24/7 crisis hotline, advocacy, mental health support, and sexual assault support services, including on-site forensic exams.
