Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – In celebration of America Recycles Day, the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Keep Jonesboro Beautiful, and Embassy Suites will be hosting their first “Jonesboro Recycles Drop Off and Sip and Share” in November.

Shelly Lamb, co-director of Keep Jonesboro Beautiful and co-chair of the Chamber’s Jonesboro Green Business Committee, said the Chamber has done an annual E-Cycle (electronics recycling) event, but this is the first time they have combined recycling with the public engagement and socialization of the Sip and Share events.

“We’ve done E-Cycle, but we wanted to make it bigger. We wanted to bring more items. We wanted people to be able to recycle more items besides just the electronics and the batteries. So that’s where the cardboard and the glass came in and we’re really hoping that we can expand it,” Lamb said.

As for the Sip and Share portion of the event, Lamb noted that at previous Sip and Shares, speaker-led discussions of public art, green infrastructure and more have happened.

“This one is merging a couple of things. It’s a drop off recycling event and then you can come inside to Houlihan’s for the Sip and Share,” she said, noting that this event was made possible with the help of their recycling partners, which include EcoWorks, Interstate Battery, Legacy Landfill, and the City of Jonesboro, who will all be on site at Embassy Suites to collect the accepted items.

Items that can be dropped off for recycling are electronics, batteries, cardboard and glass.

“Then when people come by and drop off items, they’ll get a discount. They’ll get a coupon for Houlihan’s to come inside and join the Sip and Share. We’ll talk about recycling progress in Jonesboro, and we want to discuss how we can continue to improve that,” Lamb said.

This event will be Nov. 18 from 4-6 p.m. at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Red Wolf Convention Center, located at 223 Red Wolf Blvd.
