Harrisburg, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A former Harrisburg police chief and his son pled guilty to misdemeanor charges on Tuesday in regard to a 2025 impersonation case.

Eric Moore and his son, Brandon Moore entered their guilty pleas on Oct. 27 before Poinsett County Circuit Judge Pam Honeycutt.

Court documents show that Eric pled guilty to one count of unauthorized access to obtain or release criminal history. Two additional counts of unauthorized access, along with a felony charge of furnishing a handgun or prohibited weapon to a felon, were dropped by prosecutors.

Meanwhile, Brandon pled guilty to second-degree criminal impersonation. An additional count of second-degree impersonation as well as a count of first-degree impersonation, along with a felony possession of a firearm by certain persons, were dropped.

Both men received identical sentences: a $500 fine, $150 in court costs, and a $60 booking fee. Neither defendant was sentenced to jail time or probation.

The charges stemmed from an investigation that began on April 4, 2025. Harrisburg Mayor Justin Kimble initiated the probe by asking the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office to investigate concerns that Eric was allowing Brandon— a convicted felon—to ride in his patrol vehicle while on active duty.

Court documents say that witnesses, including local police officers and deputies, reported seeing Brandon in the chief’s vehicle wearing police gear and accessing sensitive law enforcement resources. Eric was placed on administrative leave shortly after the investigation began.

Following their arrests in April 2025, bonds were set at $5,000 for Eric and $25,000 for Brandon. The Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement at the time emphasizing transparency and accountability, noting that officers “are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct in their professional duties on and off duty.”
