The arrest is the result of an investigation that began when First National Bank alerted the Jonesboro Police Department to a group of five suspects.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the group submitted nine forged police reports to the bank to illegally dispute charges between Nov. 21, 2025, and March 6. The combined potential loss to the bank exceeded $20,000.

Barnett filed four reports during this period, specifically on Nov. 21, 2025, Dec. 2, 2025, Jan. 27, and March 6.

Police said Barnett used another person’s driver’s license to open a bank account and used their name on the fraudulent reports. Barnett was said to be living with another suspect in this case, and on Jan. 20, worked with them to help with an attempt to defraud the bank in the same way that Barnett had previously.

Barnett was arrested by Paragould police at 2:49 p.m. April 9, according to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office jail roster. He is being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond.

In discussing his bond, Boling noted that this was his 11th arrest over the last 12 years and that, during that time, there had been themes of fraudulent credit card use and forgery.

Barnett is scheduled to be arraigned on May 18. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 70 years in prison and fines totaling $50,000.

Barnett is the fourth suspect arrested in connection with the case. Other suspects include Kentarius Spencer, Kimberly Jones, and Jodeci Reshelle Boston. Jones was released from jail on April 3, while Spencer and Boston remain held on $35,000 cash/surety bonds. The three are also scheduled for arraignment on May 18.
