Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $200,000 cash/surety bond after police said he was caught on home security cameras repeatedly looking into the bedroom window of a child.

Carl Wayne Deal, 66, was arrested Oct. 17, following a trespassing complaint at a home on Mardis Drive.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the homeowner provided police with surveillance footage showing a neighbor, identified as Deal, looking into the child’s bedroom window. The homeowner told officers the child was inside sorting through their closet and was in various stages of undress at the time.

The footage showed Deal triggering the home’s system 13 times between 7:09 p.m. and 7:51 p.m. The affidavit noted that Deal, who was wearing only shorts and no shirt, dropped to his hands and knees to peer directly through the windowpane.

Police said the continuous nature of Deal’s returns over the 40-minute window provided probable cause that he acted knowingly to intrude upon the minor’s privacy.

On Oct. 19, Judge Ralph Wilson found probable cause to charge Deal with voyeurism, a class C felony. Deal was also ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 23.
