Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 12, 2025 – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond after being accused of having sex with a minor.

According to an affidavit, at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 8, the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri contacted Jonesboro police about a missing child. The parents said they saw the victim’s location somewhere in the 2500 block of Red Wolf Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the passenger seat of 21-year-old Jaron Datrell Adaway. The victim told them they met Adaway at a car meet in Kennett, MO, and added each other on social media. The victim then told him to come pick them up at their home, to which he did, bringing the victim back to Jonesboro.

In a Mirandized interview, Adaway said he thought the victim was 17 years old and had sex with them, the affidavit said. Through a forensic interview, it was found that the victim was actually 15 years old. The victim said Adaway was holding up a bottle of alcohol and had her drink it.

The affidavit said the two continued talking on Snapchat, where the victim told Adaway again their actual age. Adaway reportedly replied that he could get in trouble for talking with the victim, but was OK with it if they were. Adaway traveled two more times, picking up the victim and having sex with them in his vehicle, the affidavit said.

On Sept. 7, Adaway went back to Kennett to pick up the victim and took them back to his apartment in Jonesboro. The following morning, they woke up and had sex. The victim said they were worried they would get pregnant, but Adaway said he couldn’t get them pregnant because he would go to jail.

The affidavit also said they smoked marijuana together at Adaway’s apartment. The victim went through a drug test and tested positive for THC.

The affidavit said Adaway’s phone had Snapchat notifications showing that he was in communication with the victim. It also had location information showing where he went to the victim’s home Sept. 7 and returned to his apartment in Jonesboro.

Adaway appeared before District Judge David Boling Sept. 12, where he found probable cause to charge him with traveling for the purpose of an unlawful sex act with a minor, interference with custody, fourth-degree sexual assault, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In addition to the $100,000 bond, Adaway was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Adaway’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 30.
