Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man with a history of domestic violence is back behind bars after police said he gave a fake name to cover up assaulting the same victim a judge previously ordered him to stay away from.

On April 23, Jonesboro police responded to a domestic disturbance on Meadowbrook Street. Officers contacted 43-year-old Austin Lee Jacobs at the scene. He gave them false names and dates of birth, but those details were later confirmed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, witnesses told officers that, before they arrived, Jacobs assaulted and punched the victim. Officers found visible injuries on the victim consistent with the witness’s statements. It was also noted that the two had been involved in a relationship.

Jacobs appeared before Judge Barbara Halsey the next day. She found probable cause to charge him with the following:

  • Third-degree domestic battery/multiple offenses within five years (Class D felony)
  • Obstructing governmental operations/obstructs, impairs, hinders (Class C misdemeanor)
  • Violation of a no-contact order (Class A misdemeanor)

Court documents show that Jacobs has prior domestic violence-related convictions, including an aggravated assault on a family or household member in 2025 against the same victim in this incident. A no-contact order was issued in this case between the two.

In addition to a new no-contact order, Halsey ordered Jacobs to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Jacobs is being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond, awaiting an arraignment scheduled for June 26. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to seven years in prison and fines totaling $13,000.
