Jonesboro SportsPlex moving forward

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 16, 2024 – Plans for the Jonesboro SportsPlex are moving forward.

The SportsPlex Committee has submitted plumbing plans to the Arkansas Department of Health to be approved for the proposed site on Race Street.

Floorplans for the complex were released in mid-April.

The SportsPlex planning committee held a meeting in mid-June to discuss the design of the inside of the complex.

The prospective pricing is expected to be $77,325,375 (includes events/convention center but does not include walking track or outdoor spray area and water features).

The Jonesboro Sportsplex will include a full-service kitchen, serving area, and sit-down cafeteria. The two gym areas include a total of 12 basketball courts that can be converted to 24 volleyball courts or 36 pickleball courts. The center plans include a 32,000 sq ft event/convention center.

The Sportsplex will also include a natatorium complete with a 50-meter pool with diving availability up to 13′, and a zero-foot to 5-foot depth warm up pool. Hodges mentioned that this walk-in pool could be ideal for “toddler birthday parties” and other like events.

During a recent presentation, Sportsplex Steering Committee Director Kevin Hodges began with a disclaimer, “This is what we believe today that this is what the facility is going to look like, this could change.”
