Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Monette man was arrested on a felony video voyeurism charge after police said he used his cell phone to try to record a female coworker while she was in the restroom.

On Feb. 23, a detective began investigating an incident at a business in the 2500 block of King Street after 29-year-old Terry Alexander Hatcher was reportedly fired. According to police, Hatcher was caught three days earlier, on Feb. 20, attempting to secretly record another employee.

A probable cause affidavit states that security video showed Hatcher kneeling outside the restroom door with his cell phone, leaning it toward the bottom gap. In the footage, he is then seen standing up abruptly, shoving the phone into his pocket, and running away.

During a Mirandized interview with investigators, Hatcher admitted to the act. He told police he knew the victim was inside, opened the camera app on his phone, and knelt by the door to try to view her through the bottom gap.

According to the online jail roster, Hatcher was arrested on March 5. He appeared the following day before Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey, who found probable cause to charge him with video voyeurism (residence, business, or school), a Class D felony.

Hatcher is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash/surety bond, and the judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim. His next scheduled court appearance is April 23. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
