Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A motorcyclist faces multiple felony charges after police said he fled a traffic stop in Jonesboro, reaching speeds up to 98 miles per hour, and later admitted to medics that he swallowed meth during the ordeal.
District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause Dec. 17 to charge 31-year-old Danny Joe-Wayne Wade with the following:
- Class C Felony: Possession of meth or cocaine greater than two grams but less than 10 grams
- Class D Felony: Tampering with physical evidence
- Class D Felony: Fleeing
- Misdemeanor: Driving while license is cancelled, suspended, or revoked
- Unclassified: No proof of liability insurance
- Misdemeanor: Speeding more than 15 miles per hour over the limit
- Unclassified: Using or making unofficial license plates
- Unclassified: Careless and prohibited driving
- Unclassified: Improper turn
According to the affidavit, on Dec. 9, Lieutenant Morshaydrick Racy of the Jonesboro Police Department was stopped at King Street and Caraway Road when he noticed a motorcycle, driven by Wade, turning from Windover Road into the inside lane and signaled to get into the outside lane. The officer followed Wade and noticed that they seemed like they were trying to avoid the officer, and began going up to 56 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour speed zone before speeding away and turning onto Race Street and going to the intersection at Fair Park Boulevard.
Racy continued, following Wade through Red Wolf Boulevard and seeing him exiting onto the Interstate 555 southbound on-ramp. The officer turned on his lights and sirens and sped up to catch Wade, going up to 98 mph before reaching a distance he knew the driver would see and hear him. Wade continued, however, and thus Racy made the decision to terminate his attempt to arrest them.
The affidavit said that the officer continued on the highway as he gave a description of the suspect, but as he entered the outside lane behind another vehicle, Wade sped up and got in front of the same vehicle and got off onto the same exit that the officer attempted to exit on. Once the suspect made it onto Martin Luther King Drive and went over the bridge, the officer no longer had sight of it.
At one point, a Craighead County deputy got behind Wade and attempted to stop him. Another Jonesboro police officer was authorized to assist the deputy in the pursuit. Eventually, Wade stopped at Martin Luther King Drive and Pacific Drive. Officers were advised that he had crashed at this location, but upon arrival, they discovered the suspect had laid the motorcycle down and did not crash into anything.
The affidavit said that, when Racy arrived, he was approached by Patrolman Dustin Mitchell, who showed him what was identified as approximately four grams of meth taken from the pocket of Wade. Racy later learned through a phone call with another patrolman that Wade told the medics he had eaten an “eightball” (3.5 grams) of meth during the ordeal. The motorcycle was also found to have a homemade license plate that said “2FAST4U.”
Due to having multiple failure-to-appear charges on his record, Wade was given a $15,000 cash-only bond. He is also said to be on probation.
Wade’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2026.
