UPDATE | Pedestrian struck on Main and Washington

UPDATE 4:44 p.m.:

In an update provided to JRN, Smith said the incident was a fatality accident, and that officers were working to locate the pedestrian’s family.

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A pedestrian was struck on Main Street and Washington Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

Jonesboro E911 Dispatch said the accident with injury occurred on Washington and South Main Street. It added that emergency vehicles were on scene, and that the road was blocked.

Public information official for the Jonesboro Police Department, Sally Smith, said the victim was walking in the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle. She added that the driver had a green light and was turning left on Washington, and that the call came in around 2:20 p.m.

Smith said the victim was in “critical condition” and that he was transported to an area hospital.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
