Police investigate shooting near Trumann

Trumann, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Poinsett County Sheriff and Trumann Police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting incident.

According to a press release from Poinsett County Sheriff Kevin Molder deputies from his office and officers from the Trumann Police Department responded to a call regarding a shooting on Tulot Road Southeast of Trumann around 4:45am.

When deputies and officers arrived, they located a female outside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Molder said the victim was alive as of late Saturday morning but was not aware of her condition.

Officers also located a male suspect deceased inside a vehicle on Tulot Road near the residence. The suspect appeared to have sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Molder said the incident remains under active investigation. He said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
