With TAP, cities can fund projects such as on- and off-road trails such as sidewalks, bicycle infrastructure, pedestrian and bicycle signals, lightning, and converting abandoned railroad corridors for pedestrian and cyclist use.

Meanwhile, RTP is funded through TAP funds set aside for recreational trails and are to be used to maintain and restore trails, as well as construct new ones. No Craighead County communities received RTP funding.

According to ARDOT, it awarded a total of 38 TAP projects for approximately $14.7 million, and nine RTP projects for around $1.4 million.
