NASA has announced the discovery of a planet they say could be Earth’s twin. Using the Kepler Observatory, which is basically a telescope shot into space to search for planets orbiting stars out in deep space, NASA has discovered the most Earth like planet to date. That is to say the alien planet is orbiting it’s star in the inhabitable zone where conditions are favorable for liquid water, comfortable surface temps and of course…life. But don’t start packing your bags just yet. Kepler 452b, as it’s been named, is 600 light years away from Earth. NASA says it would take about 22 million years to get there using current space travel technology. But still, the discovery gives us Earthlings hope that other Earth-like planets exist, maybe some much closer than Kepler 452b. It also points to the possibility of finding life, intelligent or otherwise, on a planet other than our own. That would be the greatest discovery in the history of mankind. Watch this news story about Kepler 452b for more details.
