REAL RUSSIAN COLLUSION

If you’ve never heard of Leonid and Friends, you probably will in the near future. Leonid is a Russian musician who was and is a huge fan of the American group Chicago. A few years ago Leonid decide to recreate his favorite Chicago song. He painstakingly transcribed every part of the song. Then he invited a group of his Russian musician friends to go into a studio and record the song. A video was shot while they recorded and was then posted on Youtube. The cover was so good that the band Chicago posted the video on their official website. Even Chicago fans were impressed by what they heard from Leonid and Friends. The Russian cover specialists began to get request to do other Chicago covers. The band was more than happy to oblige. In fact they’ve covered enough songs to make two full albums of Chicago covers. I’ve posted a couple of videos by by Leonid and Friends. The first is their cover of “I’m A Man” which gives you an idea of just how well they recreate the classic sound of Chicago. The second is “25 Or 6 To 4”. It’s a great example of how Leonid and Friends are absolutely spot on when it comes to mimicking Chicago’s horn section. Close your eyes and you’ll swear you’re listen to the real Chicago.
